Elizabeth "Beth" Swift Re-Elected for Buena Park City Council

WEBSITE PAID FOR IN 2014 BY BETH SWIFT FOR CITY COUNCIL 2014 COMMITTEE, ID#1368002

As always, I want Buena Park to be a family-friendly, business-welcoming, and education-oriented community, in which citizens enjoy a safe, beautiful, resource-rich environment. I will continue to make decisions that will maintain the services that promote those ends. Specifically, I will:

  • Maintain essential services (police, fire, water, sewer, etc.) at high levels of professionalism and reliability.

  • Find solutions for parking congestion in neighborhoods where apartment buildings are located.

  • Maintain fiscal health of the city by monitoring and paying down unfunded liabilities and containing costs.

  • Find ways to integrate and appreciate the cultural heritages of Buena Park’s diverse community.

  • Continue to represent the City in a responsible manner on the Orange County Fire Authority and other civic Boards and Committees.

  • Inform City Council, City staff, and others of the importance of preserving and honoring Buena Park’s heritage buildings; urge staff to complete an inventory of historic sites and buildings and establish historic districts.

  • Continue the progress made for establishing bikeways and walking pathways on Edison right-of-way property and secure funding through grants.

  • Advance the importance of education to the economic future of Buena Park—through the annual “Buena Park Goes to College” events, promoting the idea of early reading experiences, and encouraging college completion.

  • Coordinate Education Committee quarterly meetings with City staff, school districts, and community partners.

  • Encourage the adoption of city staff practices to personalize and expedite approval processes for building and business permits.

  • Promote the use of Core Values to influence decisions and the behavior of City staff, commissioners, and Council Members.

  • Encourage all residents—including the religious groups— to participate in city events and improve their own portion of the community.
